Welcome back! Another week has come and gone and upon us is our biggest week of the year. This coming week is our 6-game homestand with many big and important nights included in it so this will be a week that will teach us the most about what it takes in this industry. We had 4 home games this past week which were also pretty big and taught me quite a lot. This biggest thing this week however was the importance of communication. As I mentioned last week, we have Western Night which was thought of and is now being run as much as we can by the interns. We had thought about and tried to work out a giveaway for the game which on the surface was a good idea but due to time constraints and some miscommunication by no faults of our own, it won’t work out. With all the bigger nights that have been on our minds it just kind of fell off but Western Night is still looking to be a fun night and we are excited about it.
Last week was a fun one and also quite the interesting one. The first set of games on Monday and Tuesday was rather normal and were accompanied by some good crowds and a big win. But Thursday and Friday were the interesting ones. On Thursday we all moved around again and did new jobs which I found quite fun as I was working the scoreboard for the first time. It also brought along some chaos and confusion at the end of the game as a technical failure in one of the lights caused the game to be delayed and eventually called early due to not being able to fix it. That taught us the rules of when a game becomes official. Since we were past the 5th inning when it happened the rulebook stated that the game became official and was over so it was a weird way to lose but something you don’t see every day. The next night though was a great one as we had one of our bigger crowds in the park and almost 30 vendors in the concourse for our Health and Wellness Night. The game also ended in a big win so it was all-around a pretty great night.
That’s all for me for now! Thank you as always for reading and I hope you enjoyed it. Tune in next week to see how the big homestand went!
