Our final week of home games has officially ended on the tails of a huge final 4-game homestand. As the team is pushing to a playoff berth for the first time in the club’s young history, we interns were focused on making this final week the best production we could. Wednesday was usual from a game standpoint but a big one personally. I had my first time helping the on-field crew this season and it was quite the experience to see how that part of the production was run. We also had visits from the Dean of the Rowland School of Business Mr. Tanzilli and my faculty advisor and chair of the Sports, Arts, and Entertainment Management program Mr. Derda who were in town for the game. The game itself was a loss unfortunately but it was cool to be able to show them what we have been building here this summer and be able to talk to them about what we have been doing.
Our final two games were some of the biggest we had all year and ended the season on a high note. Friday night we had our Bark in the Park night where we also had that drive that I helped organize with Cuddles for Kids. I was glad that they ended up with a lot of items thanks to those who came to the game that night. We had plenty of happy dogs come into the park and have a fun time as we incorporated them into our on-field entertainment. We also held a 50-50 raffle to support the Humane Society and with our big crowd, I’m sure they got lots of traffic to their table and raised a nice amount of money.
On the heels of our successful Friday night, we finished out our home season with our Fan Appreciation Night. We had nine giveaways up front, one for each inning, and it brought in over 1,500 fans making this our biggest night of the year. Considering the number of people, the interns were practically running the game production aspect of it on our own since Greg and Conor were keeping busy making sure everything else was running smoothly. It was an electric crowd, everything went pretty smoothly on our end, and it ended up being a huge win to cap off an incredible night and an incredible season.
Thank you all for reading as always! There will be one more of these as I will do a bit of an overview of the whole season sometime soon whether it be next week or a bit earlier.
